*A rainy Sunday in Southend*
Despite the miserable weather, the Old Brentwoods’ Acorns U8s acquitted themselves admirably: playing some great rugby, demonstrating excellent teamwork, learning from their mistakes, improving match on match.
Keeping dry was impossible, keeping warm was no easier but the children’s spirits remained high throughout.
Ronnie and Charlie again proved to be a try scoring double act. Finlay showed a commendable propensity to use his passing skills. Verity and Toby ran strongly into space providing good go forward for the team. Thomas was as elusive as ever dodging hither and thither. Austin often demonstrated his improving support play and Edmund’s impressive covering tags showed his increasing tenacity in defence.
While all (children and parents!) were certainly pleased when the final whistle blew and the opportunity to get warm and dry presented itself, great fun was had during the morning’s activities.
