U7's v Witham RFC Wolves
U7's start their rugby careers!
Sunday was a landmark day for all the children, parents and coaches! The U7's played their first ever Tag Rugby matches against Witham Wolves!
Welcoming Witham is always a pleasure as they approach the game in the right spirit and all the matches played on Sunday were no different. Having got them all tagged up and having given last minute tips about defensive and attacking alignment, the first match got under way!
After some initial intervention from the Game Coach to clarify forward passing and the offside law (supported by the watching Coaches), they started to show positive 'Go Forwards' running and plenty of 'Support'; as such they are already showing a good understanding of 2 of Rugby's 'Principles of Play'!
Good tries on both sides from the majority of both teams' players throughout the morning showed they have already started to get a grip of how to play - both clubs can definitely look forward to a fun season of matches and festivals! Both sides were also keen to ensure every child got good game time; this is key in Tag Rugby so players of all abilities get a chance to enjoy the sport.
Well done again to all the players and the coaches and thanks also to the parents who continually support the efforts of the players and coaches. Here's to a fun 2017-2018 season for both the Old Brentwoods RFC Acorns and the Witham Wolves!
