U13 Old Brentwoods v Thurrock

On a very wet Sunday morning Old Brentwoods U13s lined up against Thurrock for what we hoped would be an exciting match following a closely fought game away to Thurrock in October.

After a cagey opening 10 mins with both sides working hard to keep ball in hand in some very difficult conditions, the deadlock was broken by an excellent individual run from Charlie to finish in the corner. This seemed to be the spark OB’s needed and they continued to keep up the pressure and a great pick up and drive from Leighton saw OB’s go 10-0 up.

OB’s really were playing some great rugby now and Keve continuing his fantastic form from last week running over three further tries before half time. At 25-0 down many teams would have dropped their heads but Thurrock came out in the second half battling hard and scored two well deserved tries early in the second half. OB’s didn’t fold under the pressure and nerves were settled following a great run down from Elliott, a great drive from Lewis and Jake was there to pounce and score OB’s sixth try of the morning.

The last 10 mins were tight but OB’s pulled further away following a good run from Elliott and great driving try from Matt. Thurrock continued to battle and scored a late try before the final whistle.

An exciting game and great performance from ALL the OB players who really stepped up.
