Selection Criteria

Listed below are the criteria that will be used in the selection process. They are in alphabetical order rather than order of importance.

If you feel that you are lacking in any of these then try and improve and give yourself the best chance.

Availability

If you can only make the odd match/ training session and some one else can make every, or the vast majority of, matches/ training sessions then they have a better chance of getting into the team.

Attitude

If your attitude brings out the best in your team-mates and helps the team perform then you have a better chance of selection.

Compatibility

Someone who blends in with the team well, both physically and mentally has a greater chance of selection.

Driving force

If the team you are in constantly perform well it is a good sign you are an effective player in your position.

Fitness and strength

Matches last 80 mins +. You must be able to deliver your skills and contribute effectively to the team over the whole of that period.

Potential

If you look as if you have a lot of potential then you may be included so that you can realise that promise.

Skill

You must have a high proficiency in basic skills, passing and tackling, and work hard at specific, positional skills. The greater and more reliable your skill base, the better your chance of selection.

Time keeping

If the team are always having to waste time waiting for you and have to compromise training sessions, match day preparation, etc, because you are late then you are less likely to get into a team as your team-mates cannot rely on you.
