OLD BOYS END SEASON WITH A FLOURISH

Unfortunately the advent of May sees the conclusion of the rugby season and this year has proved to be a very exciting one for the Old Brentwood's second team.
The last game of the season saw the Old Boys triumph over East London II's by 26-8 and rounded off an inspiring run of games taking the statistics of the season to 15 wins with 7 losses and 2 draws.
These figures highlighting the extraordinary turnaround from previous years and the most rewarding season for some time for the Old Boys.
There have been a number of reasons for this success, a regular core that have played consistently, some outstanding development from certain team members and the captain, Ian Hannaway, who has proved an inspiration.
A number of players have epitomised the character of the team, Billy Mullen has had an outstanding season at Number Eight and the resurgence of Scrum Half Hugh Godfrey and Nick Perry have proved instrumental in many of the Old Boys victories.
With the consistent kicking of Full Back Alex Hughes and Alistair Rigden the Old Boys have managed to add the extra points and cement victories in some of the tightest games.
It is this form that has won the Old Boys II's the BL Merit League for the first time in the tournament's history and saw 537 points scored for and only 297 against.
This trophy will be presented this Friday to the team at the clubs annual dinner at OBRFC, Ashwells Road.
